I’m really excited to see this. My friend who flies A-10’s consulted on this movie for the A-10’s battle scenes. Scott, if this movie sucks it’s on you pal.

What is the deal here? Can you imagine denying this dog a beggin’ strip? Apparently, he’s got a genetic disorder.

After the Soulja Boy dance rocketed an unknown kid to rap stardom, about 2.5 million aspiring rappers sat at home and thought, “I gotta make up a dance so I too can be a millionaire with very little effort”. Here’s the fruit of all that effort…

Today, I visited the Dallas Botanical Gardens for the first time. Now, I know that a man shouldn’t be skipping around in gardens, but I’m a photographer so cut me some slack. This turned out to be one of the most beautiful weather days I can remember. I spent two hours enjoying all the sights and smells of the various gardens and sculptures. If you get the chance to go, I would imagine it will be particularly stunning in a month or so, after the spring bloom. Here was one of my photos from the day. Follow the link below to see a few more.

Do you know the infamous album cover for the Beatles’ album, Abbey Road. The photo was taken nearly 40 years ago and instantly marked this intersection as an extremely busy tourist photo spot, which to this day is busy with people recreating the photo. This is a series of outtakes from the photo shoot that day…

It really is the world’s most amazing basketball shot, especially when you consider the consequence of it. Here’s the description in the youtube video…
Guilford College vs Randolph Macon
January 31, 2005
To set this up:
The teams are tied with just a fraction of a second in overtime.
The yellow team (Randolph Macon) sinks a free throw to win the game. ( at least they think they do) The second free throw is missed.
A guy from the Purple team (Guilford) rebounds the ball and gets a shot off just milliseconds before the buzzer.
Watch the rest to see what happens.
The greatest moment in NCAA sports history.
The name of the game’s hero is Jordan Snipes.

This is an oldie but goody. I was just going to send this clip to a couple friends but I had to post it for those who hadn’t seen it. Just go ahead and move your cursor over the play button and hit it about 400 times like I did. It’s magnetizing. You can’t look away and you have to keep watching it over and over again. Grandma shut her down, didn’t she?
In case you’re wondering, here’s the link to the back-story behind what really happened. Not as funny as the video itself. http://www.snopes.com/photos/odd/smackmouth.asp

All-Star NBA point guard and future hall-of-famer Chris Paul lost his grandfather, who was he was very close to, in his senior year of high school. To honor him, he set a goal of scoring 61 points in the game after his loss, a point for every year that his grandfather lived. This is an awesome story…

An interesting graphic I came across. Can they slip in an Xbox 360 into that power pack, for downtime?

I was a part of an enlightening discussion today at lunch with three friends/colleagues who are all outstanding musicians and true students of the history of music. The main thread of our conversation centered around the following question:
“Which classic hit songs, if released new today, would be hits right now?”
The conversation became more of a conversation about the artists than their songs, per se. Here were some of the ones we agreed on:
1) Come Together, Yesterday & Revolution - The Beatles
2) Brass Monkey - Beastie Boys
3) Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
4) Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
5) Take on Me - A Ha
6) No particular songs: Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, U2, The Who, Biggie, Tupac.
Another list we came up with centered around which current artists would be relevant years from now:
1) Foo Fightersp
2) Red Hot Chili Peppers
3) Radiohead
4) Jay-Z
5) The Black Keys
6) John Mayer
7) Outkast
Erykah Badu
These are just a few. Are there any that you have an opinion about?
